I highly recommend it for young children

This book is very sensitive to the feelings and needs of young siblings of those who have type 1 diabetes. The child without diabetes may feel ignored while so much attention is given to treat diabetes. There isn't much help available for the child without diabetes. This book fills a real need. I highly recommend it for young children.

This is one of the best "sibling" books written, it gracefully highlights the challenges for the child with diabetes and how that effects everyone else. It's heartfelt, sweet and should be available for every family with type 1 diabetes in it. It's good for all ages.

From Wikipedia: Old Wicked Songs is a two character play written by Jon Marans whose work received a nomination for the 1996 Pulitzer Prize in Drama. Old Wicked Songs was first produced by Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia. It was later produced in New York city and by Daryl Roth and Jeffrey Ash with The Barrow Group at the Promenade Theatre on August 16, 1996. Marans' play was later produced in England at the Bristol Old Vic and was later moved to the Gielgud Theatre in London's West End. Between March 31 and May 10, 2008, it was produced at its venue city, in Vienna's English theatre in Austria.

Inexpensive to produce. Two fully realized characters, one set. The effect on the audience is electric; the effect on the performers even more so. Buy it. Read it. Produce it.

Phenomenal book from a very insightful and gifted author!

This is one of the best books/plays I have ever read. The author has great ability to take a tremendously painful subject, treat it with the respect it deserves, and show how his two vastly different characters can educate each other and learn from each other in many difficult but tender moments. The ribbons of circumstance, personalities, experiences, pain, talent, and, in the end, joy, flow through the story and finally come to parallel placements using Robert Schumann's composition, Dichterliebe, to gently weave through it and eventually pull it all together. Marans has given his two characters a good sense of humor to help cushion the pain. I learn something different each time I read through this book or even parts of it. I am a better, more empathetic person for reading this book and seeing the play.

Deep, believable, moving, amazing, and great!

I've seen the play twice and read the book. What a beauty! I've never seen a play before that took so little time for exposition or that gave us the necessary facts in such a natural way. The characters were interesting and their interaction was fascinating. Anyone who has ever been part of a superb teacher-student combination will adore this play. I felt I'd been waiting for it for years.

This book, together with the Sher "New Real Book" series are well done lead sheets. I think the Hal Leonard "Real Book" series has more of what I would consider the "old" standards (30s-50s), though there is a lot of overlap in titles between the series. I think you can check the index/table of contents online to see the titles included, to see if it has what you want. The Sher series seems to be a little more aggressive with alternative chords/progressions than the Hal Leonard series. The print is a little clearer, and there are lyrics included with many of the tunes (Hal Leonard Real Book series generally does not). Chord changes vary slightly between same tunes in the Sher and Hal Leonard series, but can't say that one is better or worse.

Excellent....

The Standards Real Book (C Version) by Chuck Sher is everything that I hoped it would be and more. The song is list is great, chord options are outstanding. Being a guy who just got back to playing the guitar after more than 40 years, I am playing the songs I want to play while learning to chord options. EXCELLENT PRODUCT, (Chuck I want The Standards Real Book (C Version) #2).
BTW, I sent an email to the Chuck's company email address and he answered it personally the same day - you can't for better customer service than that; thank you Chuck.

Worth every penny. Outstanding.

This is, without a doubt, the absolute best book I've ever bought and I bought many. The Sher books are much better than the Real Books and this particular one is the best of the Sher's. Really outstanding and worth it. Great songs.
