About the Author

Shuki Kato is an Origami artist based in Montana. In 2000, he became a member of OrigamiUSA and in college he lectured in small classes about origami design and taught simple origami models and folding techniques. He is the author of Origami Masters: Bugs, How the Bug Wars Changed the Art of Origami.

Jordan Langerak is a 19-year-old origami artist from Melbourne, Australia. He was first introduced to origami in grade 4 when his mom bought him a beginner origami book. However, it wasn't until the end of 2011 that he started to gain a real interest in complex origami. He has since designed and folded multiple works which he shares on Instagram (@langko) and Flickr. This is his first book as co-author and he plans to release his own in the future.

Challenging and Original

Th book is really fantastic. Challenging designs. However, it is missing the diagrams for the Statue of Liberty - and it's too bad because it looks like a very challenging model to fold.
The book is BEAUTIFULLY designed and I look forward to working my way through it...even without Lady Liberty. It should be noted that this is a hard-back book with the spiral bound pages inside.

Origami city review

This is an origami book project which Jordan Langerak and I worked on for much of last year after receiving a book deal by Quintet Publishing. This book features purist diagrams (each model uses one square, no cuts) for 30 landmarks and other city-themed objects. For this project we aimed for designs of a moderately intermediate difficulty which would be accessible for newcomers as well as more experienced folders alike.

Jordan and I had previously focused on animal, bug, and, fantasy related origami subjects, so this particular project was quite unique and forced us both to learn and apply new ideas and techniques within origami despite over a decade of prior folding experience each. Many of the models in this book are quite difficult, but we have also provided pictures for 10 additional undiagrammed models, most of which have an even higher difficulty range. Wait, just pictures no diagrams?!? How dishonest! Perhaps that may be the case. The idea stems from this book being akin to Brick City also by our publishers which featured many aspirational Lego projects left for the expert to build relying on their own materials and talents.

The main reason I wanted to post a review for this book at such an early date is because I wanted to disclose that there are a few “errors” in the book which I want to apologize for in advance. They mostly fall into two categories:

1. The diagrams are not identical throughout because Jordan and I have a different drawing style. For example, our arrows for valley and mountain folds are not interchangeable so you will have to pay close attention to the direction of the fold. For those who already have a firm grasp on the origami diagramming system this shouldn’t be a problem as far as completing all of the projects is concerned, however, beginners will probably be a bit perplexed and annoyed because the terms and symbols section doesn’t always accurately correspond to each model.

2. Our original diagrams were in white-grey and the color palette for this book is yellow-purple with a sky blue backdrop. What this means is that there are a few minor instances where the color is incorrect such as the white side of the paper is white when it should be yellow or arrows are clear when they should be white. Hopefully you all can forgive us for those errors!

Awesome diagrams especially from Jordan - although outcomes look like you'll be doing something advanced, he made it easy to follow and worked perfectly every time with his wonderful instruction. Loved the paper that came with the book and the spiral binding for easy stand up and turning pages while wiorking. When is their next one coming out?

Not Good

Isabella was a librarian for the "committee", a group guarding earth from otherworldly icons. When she learned the Whitelaws, werewolves, possessed a very powerful book that could do untold harm, she infiltrated the compound and stole it. While fleeing she was gravely injured, just as the werewolves move in for the attack, a werejaguar Donovan comes to her rescue. He has to change her into a werejaguar to save her life because she is going to die. When she awakens her body is healed and she is just as determined as ever to destroy the book. From the moment Donovan saw her he felt a connection. By the time she was turned, he knew that she was his soul mate. Isabella doesn't trust him with information about the book but does have sex with him moments after learning she was turned into a werejaguar.
Black Moon had potential but failed miserably. Normally I overlook grammar, usage, ect errors but this novella was riddled with them. In many places, the author used a noun and pronoun together such as "Donovan he....." The kindle formatting is awful. The close word repetition was enough to have me going a little crazy and where the author varied her usage it was often done poorly as if she clicked the thesaurus button and randomly picked a word.
Granted this was a novella it lacked any depth. The characters were boring at best and had no real likable qualities. There was very little dialog and what little there was did not flow. The sex scene was so poorly written I ended up skipping half of it. I quit reading at 84% because it was just too boring. There was not one point in the story that peaked my interest or left me feeling like I had to keep reading.

Why is this a trilogy?

It is a very short story and as part one of a trilogy does seem it would be better if they were combined into one book. Although a very descriptive piece of writing, with adult themes, there is little plot and it can be summarised as; a librarian steals a magic book, she is followed by werewolves, she is rescued by a werecat, the power of the book is revealed, she is turned into a werecat and the two werecats make love. To be continued.

I Wish I'd Paid Attention...

...to the other reviews. They weren't kidding. This is bad. Really bad. Thankfully, it's also very short and, best of all, it was free. If I'd paid money for it, I'd be really upset.

The author seems to be aiming for the fantasy-romance genre, but it reads like a clunky "Letter to Penthouse," if that letter was written by a high school sophomore with a pocketful of cliches. If you need a primer on how NOT to write a story, this one is your best example.

This book changed my life - dr Anderson so so well explains the process of what happens to our bodies when we live toxic and consume toxic; the process of detoxification and cleansing becomes obviously necessary and again so so well explained; this book just makes sense-- I practically "swallowed" it and followed by two cleanses and preparing for a third one now - my family and friends will be doing it also in upcoming days and weeks; my body and digestive system function clearly better, I feel better physically and mentally and spiritually as this book inspires cleansing on all levels; also, it was this book that gave me a final push to change my career and pursue my true passion. The notions of the cosmic city and the common law are central to early Stoic political thought. As Vogt shows, together they make up one complex theory. A city is a place governed by the law. Yet on the law pervading the cosmos can be considered a true law, and thus the cosmos is the only real city. A city is also a dwelling-place--in the case of the cosmos, the dwelling-place of all human beings. Further, a city demarcates who belongs together as fellow-citizens. The thought that we should view all other human beings as belonging to us constitutes the core of Stoic cosmopolitanism. All human beings are citizens of the cosmic city in the sense of living in the world. But the demanding task of acquiring wisdom allows a person to become a citizen in the strict sense: someone who lives according to the law, as the gods do. The sage is the only citizen, relative, friend and free person; via these notions, the Stoics explore the political dimensions of the Stoic idea of wisdom. Vogt argues against two widespread interpretations of the common law--that it consists of rules, and that lawful action is what right reason prescribes. While she rejects the rules-interpretation, she argues that the prescriptive reason-interpretation correctly captures key ideas of the Stoics' theory, but misses the substantive side of their conception of the law. The sage fully understands what is valuable for human beings, and this makes her actions lawful. The Stoics emphasize the revisionary nature of their theory; whatever course of action perfect deliberation commands, even if it be cutting off one's limb and eating it, we should act on its command, and not be held back by conventional judgments.

Hard to find title, excellent info

This is chocked full of wonderful information that is still relevant all of these years later. It is easy to read, not like your average text or subject book that bores you to death. I highly recommend this for anyone interested in mining or in geology 101. The pages have been scanned and some are hard to read but not impossible and it doesn't deter from the subject at all. I give this an A+. So far, on my quest to be more knowledgeable about mining and the earth's crust and what in the world these rocks I love are made of and mean....I am much more smarter for having read this old book than anything else out there other than Geology for DUMMIES!
