This is a great resource for any creative writer. A very instinctive way to think about rhyming families and especially the inclusion of slant rhymes that are not perfect rhymes but definitely applicable in songwriting, copywriting or poetry. With but minimal cooperation from the company, Financial Times columnist Jackson (The Next Battleground, 1992) was obliged to rely on interviews, court papers, and on-the-record material to piece together its story. He nonetheless makes a fine job of reconstructing the high-tech enterprise's history, from its 1968 founding by Robert Noyce (co-creator of the integrated circuit) and Gordon Moore through the present day, when Pentium series chips dominate the market for PC microprocessors. Along the way, the author details how Intel achieved and sustained a leadership position by means of technical innovation, painstaking attention to fabrication techniques (which now permit millions of active transistor elements to be deposited on substrates measured in microns), the capacity to commit billions of dollars to capital investment during good times and bad, and a willingness to play rough with key employees who defect, as well as potentially troublesome rivals. Under the focused direction of CEO Andrew Grove (a refugee from Communist Hungary whose managerial style is reflected in the title of his 1996 book, Only the Paranoid Survive), Jackson shows, the transnational company does not shy from using litigation to gain or retain a competitive edge. Nor, he notes, does Intel like to admit error, as attested to by its attempt to stonewall the 1994 disclosure that the first Pentium chips might make long-division mistakes once in every nine billion calculations. Fair and Balance reporting. Great Motivational stories!

unlike most books on corporate america or stories about how exceptional american, against all odds, achieved exceptional things, this book did not do the typical left wing liberal spin to curse corporate america or give the same old same old "capitalism is evil" speech. the narratives detailed how a group of americans, in particular Noyce, Moore and Grove, took risk and boldly "go out and do something" (to quote Noyce) which eventually created wealth for himself/herself, for the employees and for many many people around the world (intel's employees and investors locate all over the world). these are people who in Anthony Robbins' definition as people who made positive difference in a lot of peoples' life. great book, extremely motivating. five star.

This lovely, colorful volume, the first book devoted to Frieseke's work, accompanies a traveling exhibition of the artist's paintings. Nicholas Kilmer, Frieseke's grandson, contributes a biographical narrative that includes many personal letters and archival family photographs, and three noted scholars of American art (Barbara Weinberg, Virginia M. Meklenburg, and David Sellin) address the artist's stylistic tendencies. Their essays move chronologically through Frieseke's career, discussing his style from the period before 1910; his stays in Le Pouldu, Brittany in 1901 and in Giverny in 1905-20; and his last artistic phase, which lasted from the 1920s until his death in 1939. The authors examine the paintings produced at the height of Frieseke's Impressionist phase at Giverny not only in terms of Impressionist effects of color and light but also in relation to the decorative qualities of line, texture, and interlocking figures seen in the Nabis and Art Nouveau styles. They go on to point out the characteristics of Frieseke's lesser-known late paintings, which utilize a new realism, a less sensual line, harder edges, and modern dress. book is 10 1/4 x 12 1/4".....it has 218 pages.......from page 125 - 207 are full of color photos of art work, most of these are full page. They are landscapes and people paintings. There are about another 10 color photos of the art work on other pages too and there are many black & white photos too.

I love this book. I have admired Freiseke's work for years. It gives a wonderful history of his life as well as lovely portrait plates. I find myself leaving it within reach as I never get tired of it. I often 'see' something different in his paintings I hadn't noticed before. His garden scenes just make me happy. I only wish it had all his work in it!

I'm very pleased with this book. The printing and paper are high quality, the color images are very large, one per page so you are able to see the brush strokes clearly. Will be a great addition to your library.
